Secretary
Posted: 21 May
Offer description

This is an identified position and is only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.

About the organisation

The Infrastructure and Asset Management (IAM) Division within the Ministry of Health along with Health Infrastructure, delivers sustainable and innovative infrastructure to meet the healthcare needs of NSW communities now and into the future. Through this partnership, IAM provides system leadership across the strategic planning, policy, and asset management leadership for NSW Health infrastructure, while Health Infrastructure is the delivery agency for capital projects and programs. Together, we collaborate with Local Health Districts and Specialty Health Networks, other government agencies and industry partners to drive transform public health facilities and precincts across metropolitan and regional and Rural NSW. This collaborative approach supports system-wide planning, policy and asset management leadership, while delivering major capital projects and programs that create long-term social and economic value for NSW communities.

About the role

The Director, Office of the Deputy Secretary & Chief Executive, is a trusted advisor to the Deputy Secretary, Infrastructure and Asset Management Division / Chief Executive, Health Infrastructure (a dual executive role held by a single individual), and plays a central role in driving strategic priorities and ensuring the smooth operation of the executive office. In this position, you provide high‐level advice on policy, Cabinet and Parliamentary matters, media & communications, strategic planning, projects and organisational matters across both the Ministry of Health and Health Infrastructure to support effective decision‐making, including oversight of key areas such as Internal Audit and Aboriginal Outcomes.

The role oversees the preparation of briefings, correspondence, government submissions and presentations, and manages special projects that advance organisational and system‐wide outcomes. This includes leading responses to Cabinet and Parliamentary processes and managing highly sensitive and time‐critical matters. You coordinate priorities and the flow of information across the executive portfolio so the Deputy Secretary & Chief Executive remains focused on key strategic issues. Strong relationships with senior executives, Ministerial offices, Local Health Districts and other government agencies are essential to maintain coordinated and timely communication.

You also lead a high‐performing team that delivers executive and administrative support, fostering a collaborative and proactive working environment. In doing so, you set clear direction, build capability and ensure the office operates with a high level of responsiveness, professionalism and discretion.
