Planning & Environment Lawyer – Overview
We are looking for a lawyer with at least two years of Planning and Environment work experience (PAE). The role focuses on litigation, advisory, and contractual matters for a sophisticated, growing client base that includes both government and private sector developers. The successful candidate will work on Land and Environment Court litigation, statutory interpretation of planning instruments, development contributions, environmental law compliance, contamination issues, and drafting of planning agreements and other unique agreements in the Government space.
Responsibilities
* Land and Environment Court litigation
* Advice on permissibility, statutory interpretation of planning instruments, development contributions, environmental law compliance, and contamination
* Drafting planning agreements, works‐in‐kind agreements, and unique agreements in the Government space
* Developing high quality 'out of the box' questions and legal projects for Government clients
Qualifications
A qualified lawyer with strong analytical, research and writing skills. Adept at deep‐dive research, sophisticated statutory interpretation, and precise drafting. Ideally, has exposure to and an interest in Land and Environment Court litigation. Looking for an existing Senior Associate or a lawyer seeking to step up to an Associate role for the first time, or a current Associate wanting to forge a pathway to Senior Associate.
