What You’ll Be Doing
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert practitioner who, through leadership, facilitates evidence‑based practice. The CNC promotes clinical excellence, research, and professional leadership, collaborates with health providers and consumer groups, develops clinical practice standards, and evaluates outcomes. The CNC is responsible for providing services that facilitate effective management of care in the clinical specialty.
Where You’ll Be Working
SWSLHD Inpatient Mental Health Services deliver care across several facilities, including the newly redeveloped Campbelltown Hospital and Liverpool Hospital. The multidisciplinary teams offer specialised units such as the Mental Health Intensive Care Unit, Adult Acute Unit, and Older People’s Mental Health Unit. The service is committed to patient safety and high‑quality care, maintaining accreditation with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards, and provides excellent opportunities for career development and career advancement.

- Current authority to practice as a registered nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA); at least 5 years FTE post‑registration experience and approved post‑registration nursing or midwifery qualifications relevant to the role.
- Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking in delivering advanced evidence‑based nursing care.
- Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, safe discharge planning, work health and safety, and quality improvement.
- Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and resolve conflicts when they arise.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C‑Class driver’s licence (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C‑Class licence from another state must obtain a NSW C‑Class licence within three months of appointment. Learner licences are not permitted.
