Food Service Assistant (Part-time & Casual roles)
The Village Baxter's Residential Aged Care facility, the Manor, is seeking to add to its team of Food Service Assistants, with one part-time role available as well as casual shift work over summer. Successful candidates will be joining an established team of committed professionals in a busy, caring, and vibrant aged care facility.
There's no "nursing home bland food" on offer at the Manor because we have a passion for the quality of life and happiness of each one of our elderly residents. You will be accountable to the Chef Manager and Resident Services Co‑ordinator and will work closely with the kitchen team along with the Nurses, Care Staff and Administration Staff. Our ideal candidate will bring experience working in a similar setting within an Aged Care environment and will already hold a Basic Food Safety Practices Certificate.
Responsibilities & Duties
The quality and nutritional value of our meals is paramount to our service. It is important to us that we provide a diverse diet to our residents respecting likes and dislikes, ensuring a healthy intake of nutritional food is prepared and consumed, whilst following clinical reviews to ensure dietary requirements are met at all mealtimes.
Meal Preparation Practises include –
* Preparing drinks and special fluids as necessary for individual residents.
* Preparing meal trays / tables with consideration for the resident's individual needs and dignity.
* Assisting with meal plating, which includes ensuring the presentation, quantity and temperature of food served is appropriate for the residents' dietary requirements.
* Morning & Afternoon Tea and Coffee Service.
* Liaising individually with Residents requesting meal choices from the lunch and Dinner Menu.
Infection Control Practises include –
* Dismantling meal trays, clearing, and preparing dishes and cutlery for the dishwasher.
* Maintaining clean food preparation areas, cooking equipment, food storage areas, cupboards and utensils as detailed on the kitchen cleaning list.
* Practising all food handling practises in accordance with all Food Handing Legislation / Regulations especially in relation to – Personal Hygiene including Hand Hygiene and Covid Safe Practises, Food Preparation / Handling, Food Storage, Tray Cleaning and Washing, Kitchen Hygiene and Waste Disposal.
As an important function in our daily routine, you will be working with highly trained medical staff, administrators, nursing staff and of course residents with various medical conditions. For this reason, we place a strong emphasis on your ability to communicate professionally and compassionately and to conduct your work with everyone's safety in mind.

Village Baxter staff enjoy weekly pay and payday superannuation as well as access to salary packaging (which can be used to increase take home pay). Casual loading and various shift allowances apply to the advertised hourly rate.
Our pre‑employment checks include a National Police Check as well as the need to provide evidence of both COVID and seasonal influenza vaccinations.
