An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Hydraulics Engineering Manager to lead the design, development, and delivery of advanced hydraulic systems. Reporting to the Operations Support Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving technical excellence, innovation, and performance across a range of bespoke projects.
This is a hands‐on leadership role where you'll oversee the complete lifecycle of hydraulic system design, from concept through to commissioning while managing a high-performing engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor a team delivering hydraulic system design, development, and testing
* Manage multiple projects, ensuring delivery to scope, budget, and schedule
* Provide technical expertise across system design, circuit layouts, and component selection
* Interpret client requirements and develop FEED documentation, including scope and resource planning
* Oversee engineering schedules and budgets, managing variations as required
* Develop fault‐finding and troubleshooting processes for complex hydraulic systems
* Collaborate cross‐functionally with sales, production, and service teams
* Maintain and enhance design standards, documentation, and drawing libraries
* Drive continuous improvement and innovation in hydraulic performance and efficiency
* Act as the key technical contact for clients and stakeholders
About You
* Degree qualified in Mechanical, Hydraulic, or Fluid Power Engineering (or similar)
* Strong background in hydraulic system design, with leadership experience
* Advanced knowledge of hydraulic principles, circuit design, and diagnostics
* Proficient with 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and simulation software
* Familiar with relevant standards (ISO, AS, API, SAE)
* Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
