The Role

ABC News Mildura - Swan Hill is looking for a highly motivated, multi-skilled News Reporter to break and tell the stories of Mildura and its surrounds. Mildura is a thriving regional city along the Murray River, celebrated for its vibrant community, warm weather, agriculture, great food and wine, and a calendar packed with festivals and cultural events. With top-class arts and sports facilities, easy access to destinations like Hattah Lakes National Park, Mungo National Park and Menindee Lakes, Mildura is an ideal place to live and work.

The Job

Reporting to the Editor, ABC Mildura - Swan Hill, you will be responsible for:

* Pitching ideas, presenting radio news bulletins, producing digital content, Q&A's, interviews, updates, and packages across multiple platforms, including breaking news stories.
* Preparing and presenting stories for key statewide radio and television programs including ABC's 7pm bulletin and News Channel, as well as writing for online.
* Contributing to the implementation of the local Emergency Broadcast coverage plan.
* Contributing new ideas to increase audience reach and engagement.
About You

You are a creative, experienced, and highly organised news reporter, able to find original, compelling stories from our community to share for radio, digital, TV and social media. You will love connecting with our diverse audience stretching along the Murray River from the SA border to Kerang and into New South Wales.

You Will Be Able To Demonstrate That You Have
* Proven experience in delivering breaking and original content for multiple platforms.
* Accomplished editorial skills including the ability to source and analyse information and exercise reliable judgement.
* Detailed understanding of the issues that affect and interest the local audience.
* The ability to travel to remote locations when required.
* The ability to work early morning and weekend shifts is a must.
