The Opportunity
A proactive and community‐focused Sustainability Officer to support the delivery of environmental initiatives across the Tamworth local council. In this role, you will contribute to stakeholder engagement, waste education, and auditing. You will also lead education and engagement programs designed to enhance community participation in waste reduction and resource recovery. This position is a permanent part‐time position.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver a range of waste audit activities for residents, including methodology development and reporting.
* Improve resource recovery outcomes through planned delivery, resulting in increased diversion and contamination reduction.
* Evaluate and optimize waste diversion strategies to maximize resource recovery.
* Liaise with Council staff members and Cleanaway operations staff to identify residents' education needs.
* Support and deliver school waste education programs.
* Create communication materials including reports, presentations, and educational tools.
About You
* Tertiary qualified in Sustainability, Environmental Science, or other relevant fields.
* Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build meaningful relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
* You thrive in a fast‐paced environment and can effectively prioritise tasks.
* Tech‐savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Valid Driver's License.
* Willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC).
* Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and Tetanus vaccinations (or willingness to obtain).
