Situated at headspace Ballina, on Bundjalung Country the Yarn Safe worker is part of the headspace community engagement team who deliver key messages and initiatives of headspace, such as mental health awareness, reducing stigma and early help-seeking in culturally safe and appropriate ways.
Connected to community, the Yarn safe worker will build on our existing relationships to further improve accessibility to services and work in culturally appropriate ways to deliver important messages, run groups and continue developing meaningful relationships. The Yarn Secure worker will also propose recent and innovative ways to embed culturally relevant practice in our service.

- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in health, psychology, social work, social science or social welfare, health promotion or similar Social Science
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people with mental health, alcohol and other drug, and other social issues.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating and facilitating youth programs, events and activities within an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of factors that contribute to positive mental health for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people
