Help drive the City's financial sustainability and strategic growth

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Team Leader Financial Accounting, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial services that support the City's operational, statutory and compliance requirements.

In this role, you will manage month-end and year-end processes, prepare and lodge BAS, complete general ledger reconciliations, support audits and budget preparation, maintain financial systems and registers, and provide advice aligned with accounting standards and City policies.

We are seeking someone with a degree in commerce, business or accounting, relevant experience in financial operations, and strong analytical, organisational and communication skills. Knowledge and accounting experience in Development Contribution Plans would be desirable. If you're ready to contribute to a high-performing team and support continuous improvement in financial processes, we'd love to hear from you.

About You

You are a detail-driven finance professional who thrives in a busy, dynamic environment. With experience across core financial functions, including reconciliations, journals, analysis and statutory reporting. You bring confidence, accuracy and sound judgement to your work.

You're skilled in navigating financial systems, interpreting data and producing clear, reliable insights that support effective decision-making. Collaboration comes naturally to you, and you value strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.

Organised and adaptable, you manage competing priorities with ease and maintain high standards even under pressure. You pride yourself on delivering excellent customer service and operating with integrity, backed by your understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, FBT, BAS requirements and relevant legislation.

Above all, you're proactive, solutions-focused and ready to contribute to a forward-thinking organisation that embraces innovation, continuous improvement and positive change.

So… why join the City of Wanneroo?
