Role Details:
As the Financial Controller, Energy & Trading, you will be dedicated to the financial ownership, analysis, and decision support to the Energy and Energy Trading function. The role is responsible for ensuring financial integrity, delivering high‐quality forecasting and reporting, and translating complex trading and operational outcomes into clear financial insights.
What You'll Do:
* Own end‐to‐end financial control for the Energy and Trading portfolio, ensuring accurate, timely reporting and strong P&L and balance sheet integrity with no material audit issues
* Deliver clear, insightful financial reporting and analysis across price, volume, hedging, and trading performance to support executive and Energy Committee decision‐making
* Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, developing robust models that improve forecast accuracy, transparency, and confidence in commercial assumptions
* Provide commercial and trading analysis across derivatives, gas and fuel positions, and structured transactions, translating market and trading outcomes into financial and business impact
* Act as a trusted finance business partner to Trading, Operations, Water, and Procurement, reducing reliance on senior leaders to explain financial outcomes
What You Will Bring:
* CA or CPA qualified
* 5–8+ years' experience in commercial finance within trading, energy, utilities, or commodities environments
* Strong financial modelling and advanced analytical capability
* Proven experience managing complex P&L drivers, including price, volume, and hedging
* Sound understanding of derivatives and hedging instruments
* Proficiency in SAP
* Experience using Hyperion or similar performance management systems
* Exposure to energy, utilities, or commodities trading environments
* Experience working with shared services and/or offshore teams
* Highly motivated and results oriented
* Strong commercial judgement and decision‐making capability
* Ability to translate complex financial outcomes into clear, actionable insights
* High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy
* Confident stakeholder engagement across senior leadership levels
* Ability to thrive in a fast‐paced, dynamic trading environment
