Project Operations Manager
We are seeking a results-driven Quality Control Specialist who combines technical excellence with a customer-centric mindset to ensure our traction products exceed both internal and customer expectations. This hands-on role requires someone comfortable rolling up their sleeves in our new Maryborough, Queensland facility, working collaboratively across functions to embed quality at every stage of production while driving measurable improvements in delivery and performance. Your role and responsibilities
In this hands-on role, you will actively drive continuous improvement of the local unit's capabilities to deliver measurable results that ensure products and systems meet internal, customer and industry requirements, in a cost effective and safe working environment. Working directly alongside functional leads including Safety, Planning, Engineering and Production, you will implement and execute standards and test methods to ensure only conforming products, software and services are released to the customer.
The work model for the role is: Onsite, 5 days a week at Maryborough, Queensland.
This role is contributing to the Traction Division of Motion. Main stakeholders are each of the functions within the local team (Assembly, Service, Planning, Test, Engineering, Procurement, and Operations). Occasional after-hours online meetings with our global counterparts will be required.
You will be accountable for:
* Owning and embedding the factory Quality Management Plan and leading all quality audit activities, with direct involvement in floor-level execution and measurable audit outcomes.
* Leading the hands-on design, planning, and execution of tests, controls, verifications, and validations that are directly related to products, systems, or software production and/or delivery processes, ensuring results meet defined acceptance criteria.
* Actively coordinating the interface between quality control needs and activities for supplier quality, production quality, testing and validation, and engineering, driving tangible improvements across all touchpoints.
* Executing and assisting in specific quality control-related training on the production floor, promoting a passion for quality and integrity in all actions, with a focus on result orientation; and ensuring the team has the necessary capabilities to ensure products and systems meet specified requirements and customer expectations.
* Contributing to on time delivery of goods by ensuring deployment of appropriate reporting mechanisms to ensure accurate reporting of metrics related to quality control of incoming items, production, factory, or software test labs, and final inspection quality.
You will join a growing team in the exciting stages of early production in a new facility. Get your running boots on, there is a lot to be done and we are seeking like-minded individuals who are team players, comfortable with being hands-on, and up for a challenge.
Qualifications and experience for the role
* Previous experience in Quality Control and Quality Assurance is required.
* Qualifications and/or experience in a technical field is preferred.
* A demonstrated knowledge and strong understanding of the creation, use and maintenance of Quality Management Systems.
* Strong expertise in Quality Control methodologies and best practice, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and Six Sigma.
* Demonstrated ability to establish, implement and maintain appropriate metrics, KPI's, measures and tools to monitor and control the quality of products manufactured in the facility, ensuring the team has what it needs to own quality in their area of expertise.
* 5+ years of manufacturing experience will be highly regarded, particularly in an electrical/electronic assembly and motors manufacturing environment.
* A passion for improving systems and experience in coordinating cost saving initiatives. We are seeking candidates whose mindset is to challenge the status quo.
* Possesses the ability to know when to escalation in the case of product quality or safety non-conformance. You will be supported by the local and global ABB team, but will also need to comply with customer-specific requirements.
* An understanding of, and experience in, completing Root Cause Analysis in a Lean manufacturing environment. You will demonstrate proficiency in gathering and analysing complex data and deriving meaningful results that contribute towards continuous improvement.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills. In this role you will need to collaborate, advise, train, report and lead.
* Proficient in MS Office and quality control software .
* Demonstrates an understanding of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) terms, concept application, reporting, and risks.
