Position Overview The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems associated with applications within mining, oil & gas, and industrial environments. The role involves interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and applicable standards to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical equipment. The position includes working closely with project and delivery teams to support system installation, commissioning, and performance, while facilitating risk mitigation and ensuring compliance with engineering standards and project requirements.

The engineer also contributes to quality assurance and quality control processes by supporting inspections, verifying installations, participating in testing activities, and assisting in the management of non-conformances and corrective actions. The role involves liaising with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders, and contributing to the development of quality management plans, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives to support the successful delivery and long-term reliability of electrical systems.

Responsibilities
* Design and develop electrical systems and components in accordance with project requirements
* Determine system layouts, equipment selection, and configuration including transformers, switchgear, and cabling systems
* Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards (AS/NZS, IEC)
* Supervise and support installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems
* Monitor system performance and support maintenance activities
* Contribute to QA/QC processes including inspections and verification of installations
* Witness and support testing and commissioning activities (e.g., FATs, functional testing)
* Identify and resolve technical and quality-related issues, including non-conformances, and support corrective and preventive actions in line with project requirements
* Prepare engineering reports, technical documentation, and quality records
* Support the development and implementation of quality management plans, inspection test plans (ITPs), and engineering procedures
* Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and project teams
* Contribute to continuous improvement, audits, and project reviews
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
* Minimum 3 years' experience in electrical engineering
* Experience in electrical installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning
* Exposure to QA/QC processes and inspection activities (supporting role)
* Knowledge of Australian Standards (AS/NZS) and IEC standards
* EEHA (Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas) certification or experience preferred
* Experience working in hazardous area environments (e.g., mining, oil & gas, and refinery environments) preferred
Skills
* Strong engineering analysis and problem-solving skills
* Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications
* Good communication and coordination skills
* High attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
Salary and Benefits
* Salary: AUD $85,000 – $95,000 per annum (plus superannuation)
