About the Role As a Senior Production Engineer at Babcock, you will play a key leadership role within an integrated engineering team, guiding and developing your people while ensuring the timely and high‑quality delivery of engineering artefacts.
Responsibilities
Develop and deliver the Facilities Monitoring and Control (FMC) subsystem, ensuring it meets cost, schedule and technical requirements across the Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System and other related projects.
Lead systems engineering activities including requirements management, subsystem integration, acceptance testing, certification and technical investigations.
Support the design, delivery, sustainment and operational readiness of critical defence communication capabilities across Australia.
Required Experience and Skills
Extensive relevant experience in comparable technical/engineering roles.
A good understanding of applicable engineering toolsets (e.g. PLM or MRP systems, design, simulation and analysis software).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong computer skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve desired results.
Experience in leading technical investigations, conducting risk assessments and guiding decision‑making across the product lifecycle.
Solid grasp of design, analysis, manufacturing and support processes, and an appreciation for interfacing technologies.
Leadership demonstrated through commitment to developing others, fostering knowledge sharing and building collaborative relationships across teams.
Managing engineering activities to time, cost and quality, and clear communication with internal and external stakeholders, including during formal reviews.
