Technical Lead Engineer (Managed Services)
We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Technical Lead Engineer to join a growing Managed Services Provider (MSP). This is a hands‐on senior technical role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex problems, mentoring others, and acting as the escalation point for a technical team.
You'll play a key role in supporting and improving client environments while helping guide the broader engineering team through technical leadership, escalation support, and operational best practice.
This role is ideal for someone who loves challenging technical work, takes ownership of outcomes, and thrives in a fast‐paced MSP environment.
About the Role
As the Technical Lead Engineer, you will act as the senior escalation point for Level 1 and Level 2 engineers while remaining deeply hands‐on technically. You will work closely with internal teams and clients to resolve complex issues, support strategic improvements, and maintain high service standards across the business.
You will also help uplift technical capability across the team by providing guidance, mentoring, and leadership in day‐to‐day operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex Level 2 and Level 3 support issues
* Lead technical troubleshooting and problem resolution across infrastructure, cloud, security, networking, and end‐user environments
* Mentor and support engineers across the service team
* Assist with technical decision‐making, standards, and operational best practices
* Maintain strong communication with clients throughout incidents, escalations, and project work
* Support the implementation, administration, optimisation, and documentation of client environments
* Work collaboratively across service delivery, projects, sales, and operational teams
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, technical standards, and documentation
* Ensure service levels and response expectations are consistently achieved
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
* Proven experience working within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment
* Strong experience acting as an escalation point for technical teams
* Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across complex environments
* Exceptional customer service and communication skills
* Strong ownership mentality with the ability to drive issues through to resolution
* Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
* Solid experience with Microsoft 365, virtualisation technologies (VMware and/or Hyper‐V), networking technologies including firewalls, switching, LAN/WAN, remote monitoring and management tools, service desk and documentation platforms, and both remote and onsite environments
* Relevant Microsoft, Azure, networking, or ITIL certifications highly regarded
