What You Will Be Doing

There is an opportunity in the Social Work, Music Therapy, & Art Therapy team at Peter Mac to welcome a Grade 1 Social Worker on a full time, permanent basis. As a Grade 1 Social Worker, you will be supported to develop your career in public health and work across both the inpatient and ambulatory settings. You will receive regular supervision and additionally be supported to participate in seminars specifically designed to enhance your professional development as you learn and grow in your knowledge of the specific clinical skills needed in oncology social work. Grade 1 Social Workers work collaboratively as part of interdisciplinary teams to provide excellent, world‐class cancer care through oncology‐specific psychosocial assessments, clinical interventions, risk assessment and response, discharge planning, and community resource linkages. Grade 1 Social Workers are supported by dedicated Grade 2 and Grade 3 Senior Social Workers.

What You Will Need

Required

* A Bachelor's Degree or Qualifying Masters in Social Work. Post graduate studies are highly regarded and may be eligible for a higher education allowance.
* Eligibility for Australian Association of Social Work (AASW) membership
* Working with Children Check
* Police Check
* Covid 19 & Influenza Vaccinations

Renumeration

As per the ALLIED HEALTH PROFESSIONALS (VICTORIAN PUBLIC SECTOR) (SINGLE INTEREST EMPLOYERS) ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT 2021-2026 for Salary range. Grade 1 Year 2 [SC12] $70,590.00 to Grade 1 Year 6 [SC16] $85,872.80. Based on years of experience.

Position Summary

The Grade 1 Social Worker is responsible for the delivery of high quality social work services to patients receiving treatment at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Parkville or satellite campuses.

* Demonstrated ability to work in interdisciplinary teams, at an accomplished level
* Well-developed individual, family work and crisis intervention and care planning skills
* Evidence of ongoing commitment to professional development and supervision

* Evidence of understanding of research/evaluation principles

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations

Eligible for Registration with Australian Association of Social Work (AASW)

Key Accountabilities

1. Provide direct high quality clinical services to patients and families within Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

* Compliance with AASW practice guidelines and professional standards, organizational policies and procedures
* Comprehensive range of social work services provided including: completion of psycho‐social assessments and interventions plans to address access, community and organizational supports, adjustment to illness and other supportive care strategies relevant to the care of cancer patients and their families
* Discharge planning and documentation in accordance with professional guidelines
* Documentation in accordance with professional guidelines and organizational practices
* Data collection in line with organizational requirements
* Participation in Professional Development Programs

2. Engage in professional supervision.

* Engagement and self-reporting in Professional Supervision in accordance with AASW guidelines and organizational requirements
* Provides in-services for team members on role and psychosocial issues

3. Contribute to the development, update and implementation of policies, procedures and protocols as required.

* Contribute to policies developed in collaboration with colleagues in the Social Work Department and within professional standards

4. Participate in the design, delivering and evaluation of relevant programs, quality research and projects in the Social Work Department.

* Contribute to program development, quality assurance and practice based research activities in consultation with team, manager and professional supervisor
* Undertakes active role in relevant working groups
* Reports on all activities within agreed timelines
