Engineering Surveyor
Key Functions and Tasks
Responsible and authorised secondary member of the survey teams working under the governance of the Survey Manager and Senior Surveyor or a client Survey Manager. Assists the Senior Surveyor and Survey Manager by carrying out site setout and conformance.
Responsibilities
* Adhere to project survey management plans
* Manage and mentor trainee surveyors
* Provide the survey manager with reports to contribute to monthly survey cost and budgets
* Effectively negotiate and manage sub‐contractors
* Limited but effective communication with client and stakeholders
* Provide reports or data to assist the survey manager in tendering opportunities
* Ensure engineering services for projects are delivered as per the client's requirements
* Establish tertiary and secondary control points for a project's survey control network and maintain survey control networks
* Undertake all nature of survey to meet contractual and quality assurance obligations
* Store and maintain all survey equipment
* Report any equipment faults to the Survey Manager
* Assist in the preparation of calculations for quantities
* Basic site required problem solving
* Assist in providing project paperwork including reductions, data, drawings, site folders etc to the Survey Manager or Senior Surveyor
* Submit basic project reporting to the Survey Manager as per the reporting schedule
* Immediately escalated and clearly communicate project delays and or unforeseen project risks to the Survey Manager as soon as identified
* Effectively consult and communicate with team members
* Maintain competent TAO proficiency level on TAO disciplines as required
Qualifications and Mandatory Requirements
* Degree or Diploma in surveying carried out at or approved by a recognised Australian surveying body.
* Safely Access the Rail Corridor (RISI/RIW Card)
* General Induction for Construction Work in NSW (OH&S/white card)
* Valid Unrestricted Driver's Licence or working towards it
Experience and Knowledge
* Minimum of two (2) years post‐graduation surveying experience
* Demonstrated experience working Tier 1, 2 and 3 TfNSW projects either autonomously or under the direct supervision of a Survey Manager
* Demonstrated experience assisting in the delivery of projects for TFNSW
* Ability to identify site risks and suggest improvement
* Demonstrated experience operating at a similar level within the rail & engineering infrastructure industry; where no experience in TfNSW projects, retain experience within projects of a similar or next best nature
* Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with internal staff and subcontractors
* Ability to read, understand plan sets & design drawings
* Ability to carry out contract terms and legislation provisions under the Survey Manager's directions
* Understanding of relevant Rail Safety / WH&S and Environmental Protection Acts as applied to the Rail Industry
* Comply with ISO 9001:2015 standard requirements

* Entry‐level negotiating and management skills
* Ability to train and mentor trainee surveyors
* Considerate written and verbal communication skills
* Allocated budget management
* Assist in and working towards producing accurate and meaningful project reports, plans and desired CAD models
* Ability to use computer software including 12d, Excel, Word and Outlook

* Working at heights training
* Elevated work platform training
* Basic 12d and CAD courses
Additional Experience and Knowledge
* Entry‐level experience delivering TAO Engineering and Railway surveying
