About the role:
We are seeking an Intermediate or Senior Accountant to join our well-established firm in Goulburn. This is a key role within the firm, offering the opportunity to manage client relationships, deliver high-quality compliance and advisory services, and mentor junior team members, while working closely with Partners.
This position will suit someone who enjoys working with a diverse client base and is passionate about providing practical, value‐added accounting and tax advice.
As an Accountant, you will take ownership of client engagements, preparing and reviewing financial statements and tax returns across a range of entities including individuals, companies, trusts, and self‐managed superannuation funds. You will play a trusted advisory role for clients while ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, taxation legislation, and professional obligations. You'll also support Partners with advisory work, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and provide technical guidance and mentoring to intermediate and junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements for individuals, companies, trusts, and SMSFs
* Prepare and review income tax returns, BAS, FBT, and other statutory compliance obligations
* Manage client relationships and respond to client queries in a timely, professional manner
* Liaise with the ATO and other regulatory bodies as required
* Assist with tax planning, structuring, and advisory engagements
* Support Partners by identifying opportunities for value‐added services
* Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and on‐the‐job training to junior team members
* Contribute to continuous improvement of internal systems, processes, and quality control standards
* Manage multiple deadlines in a public practice environment while maintaining high-quality outcomes
About you:
* CA or CPA qualified (or near completion)
* Proven experience in a public practice accounting environment
* Strong technical knowledge of Australian tax and accounting standards
* Confidence in managing client relationships and providing practical advice
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines
* A collaborative mindset and interest in mentoring and supporting team development
