We are partnering with a global technology business to hire a Tech Lead. This is a hands on leadership role focused on production support, troubleshooting, engineering delivery, and technical direction across Point of Sale platforms supporting 70 stores today with growth toward 700 stores. This role suits an emerging tech lead who enjoys solving complex production issues, leading technical decision making, mentoring engineers, and partnering with offshore development teams to deliver fixes and improvements. You will work closely with local technical leadership and European core product teams. This is a permanent role with hybrid work arrangement based in Melbourne, Victoria.
What You'll Be Doing
* Lead technical delivery across critical POS platforms and store systems
* Provide L3 and L4 support for production incidents and platform stability
* Drive root cause analysis and define long term remediation strategies
* Review code behaviour and system interactions to diagnose complex issues beyond L1 and L2 support
* Partner with European engineering teams to deliver fixes, patches, and enhancements
* Provide technical leadership across POS, back office, and store platform initiatives
* Develop back end services using Java 8 SDK and Spring Boot
* Contribute to front end applications using React and TypeScript
* Support integrations across enterprise systems and internal platforms
* Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and engineering best practices
* Improve operational efficiency by reducing recurring issues and driving continuous improvement initiatives
* Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical roadmap planning

What We're Looking For
* Strong hands on software engineering background across Java, Spring Boot, React, and TypeScript
* Experience leading technical delivery or mentoring engineering teams
* Solid Java fundamentals with ability to work across legacy and modern environments
* Strong troubleshooting capability across live production systems
* Ability to read code, isolate faults, and work through complex technical problems
* Experience across full stack development preferred
* Strong communication skills with confidence working across global engineering teams
* Pragmatic problem solver with ownership mindset
* Comfortable operating in a fast paced retail environment
