Job Purpose:
The Senior Substation Engineer (Primary Electrical) will be responsible for the production and management of design and engineering deliverables for High Voltage T&D projects, including feasibility studies, tender and detailed designs, design reviews and verifications. This role will also oversee design management, engineering governance, quality assurance and technical mentoring of the Substation Design Team, ensuring adherence to industry standards and the client's quality objectives.
Responsibilities:
Produce and manage design and engineering deliverables for High Voltage T&D projects.
Perform feasibility studies and tender design work.
Conduct design reviews and verifications.
Oversee design management and engineering governance.
Ensure quality assurance and mentoring of the Substation Design Team.
Maintain adherence to industry standards and client quality objectives.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Power Systems Engineering from a recognised institution.
Membership with relevant national or international professional engineering bodies.
Strong understanding of applicable national and international engineering standards, codes and practices.
Solid knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and Safety in Design (SiD) requirements.
Excellent technical report writing and presentation skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines.
Experience:
15+ years of design and engineering experience in delivering Substation Primary System Design for utility substations or large-scale Renewable Energy and T&D infrastructure projects.
Proven expertise in Primary System Design Modelling, including:
Insulation coordination.
Earth grid modelling and design.
Lighting system modelling and design.
Demonstrated experience delivering EHV Substation Primary Design.
