This is a promising opportunity for a detail-oriented, people-focused Business Analyst to take ownership of their role, working for an established and reputable not-for-profit organisation in Brisbane.
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Business, you will work closely with the businesses on-site hospitality businesses (a combination of bars, cafes, bistros and restaurants), analysing processes, data, and systems to identify business analytics and needs, and recommend valuable report-driven solutions. Your primary responsibility will be to provide financial analysis, strategic advice and ongoing monitoring of operational performance.
This is a fixed-term 6-month contract, full-time hours Monday to Friday, with a strong possibility of permanency with the business. The successful candidate will have strong people and communications skills, and will be someone who is able to build relationships with internal business owners in a way that promotes continuous improvement and growth.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Provide financial advice and insights to senior stakeholders on performance, governance, and commercial implications of initiatives.
* Develop and maintain KPIs and reporting frameworks across financial performance, capital works, and major projects.
* Deliver regular and ad hoc financial reporting, including budget vs actual analysis, forecasts, and recommended corrective actions.
* Conduct deep-dive analysis into key performance drivers (e.g. utilisation, revenue, cost ratios, margins) across multiple business units.
* Analyse high-risk projects and strategic initiatives to support informed decision-making.
* Support stakeholders in using finance systems to track project performance and improve reporting capability.
* Identify opportunities for process and reporting improvements while ensuring compliance with governance and risk requirements.
Required Experience
* CA or CPA highly-regarded but not essential
* You are a trainee Accountant or Junior Business Analyst with minimum 3+ years of experience, or in a similar role that requires detailed investigation and reporting
* High standard of written and verbal communication skills essential – you will be able to provide a respectful consultancy approach and a commitment to quality service.
* Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy skills, and the ability to investigate financial data.
* Demonstrated knowledge, or the capacity to acquire knowledge of, applicable legislation, codes and policies including anti-discrimination, EEO and workplace health and safety legislation.
