Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator to support our database systems, providing primary support to the MS SQL Database landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide primary support to the bank's MS SQL Database landscape
* Ongoing monitoring, evaluation & analysis of the database environments to provide optimum performance
* Ensuring ongoing performance tuning & optimisation to the bank's Database infrastructure
* Providing regular review, analysis & reporting of current database capacity & forecast medium-long term growth
* Ensuring the database environment is maintained at the latest patch level & make recommendations for enhancements & version upgrades
* Defining & implementing Backup & recovery procedures & ensure regular review, analysis & reporting of system availability
* Identify areas for automation enhancements through scripting & scheduling of tasks
* Ensure that all reported issues are tracked through to closure, liaising with development teams and management as necessary
* Ensure IT Infrastructure is insulated from unauthorised access, virus infection or any security vulnerabilities and conforms to Rabobank Standards and Policies
* Create and maintain technical documentation for new installations and systems changes as required
Requirements:
* Minimum of 5 years' experience as a SQL Server DBA
* MS SQL Server (2014, 2016, 2019, 2022) experience
* Capable in Database replication technologies (Always On, Database Mirroring, Log Shipping)
* Proficient in SQL tuning, PL/SQL, Unix, Shell Scripting
* Proven performance tuning skills (especially in a data warehouse environment)
* Shell / batch / Perl / PowerShell scripting knowledge
* Linux & Microsoft Windows basic System Administration
* Oracle (11g, 12c) &/or Oracle Exadata experience is desirable
* Excellent verbal & written communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to be a team player
* Ability to identify priorities & work successfully to deadlines
* Ability to work autonomously & with conflicting priorities
Must be available to work outside normal working hours as required and be part of the On-Call roster.
