Position: Permanent part-time (0.6 FTE) commencing Term 3, 2026

Job Responsibilities
* Play a crucial role in fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for Indigenous students.
* Act as a liaison between the school and the Indigenous community, working closely with teachers, students and families.
* Develop culturally relevant educational programmes and provide mentoring and pastoral care, especially for students at risk, to encourage participation and achievement.
* Facilitate the involvement of the Indigenous community in shaping school policies and programs.
* Conduct home visits to discuss academic progress or social development of students and provide orientation to staff about the Indigenous community.
Qualifications & Experience
* Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency or a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of appointment.
* Valid Working With Children Check.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the histories, languages, social and cultural protocols of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
* Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, parents/caregivers, families, teachers and community members.
* Ability to assist teachers in understanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students' needs and build culturally safe environments for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
* Reliability, flexibility, organisational skills, friendliness, caring, professionalism and commitment to building positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider community.
Eligibility Requirements
* Must be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander under Section 50d of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA). Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification for this position.
* Must possess a valid Working With Children Check before commencement.
