- Ongoing, Part Time Role
About the role
As a Nurse Educator, you’ll play a vital role in shaping the capability, confidence and ongoing development of our nursing workforce. Drawing on your clinical expertise, you will deliver high-quality education, training and learning experiences that support protected, consistent and evidence-based practice across the Emergency Department. You’ll provide a broad range of professional support services, from coordinating daily in-services to facilitating clinical teaching, reviewing competency modules, maintaining accurate development records and supporting clinicians as they undertake local teaching and assessment. Your role will also contribute to the learning journey of postgraduate students completing clinical placements, helping them feel welcomed, supported and equipped for practice.
In this position, you will accept accountability for the outcomes of nursing education practices and ensure alignment between policy and practice. You’ll work collaboratively with Nurse Unit Managers and fellow Nurse Educators to coordinate teaching and learning processes, champion contemporary developments in nursing and midwifery, and promote a positive, safe and supportive workplace culture. Your commitment to high-quality education will help strengthen staff knowledge, build professional confidence, and ultimately support improved patient care and outcomes across the service.
About You
You’re a passionate and forward-thinking nurse educator who brings clinical expertise, strong leadership and a commitment to developing others through high-quality, evidence-based learning experiences.
Clinically qualified and experienced, with current (or eligible) registration as a Nurse/Midwife, at least three years’ post-registration experience, and a solid foundation in nursing education, staff development and relevant education theory.
A confident educator and communicator, skilled in designing, delivering and evaluating education programs, presenting to diverse audiences, supervising students and supporting peers through preceptorship and clinical development.
A collaborative and adaptable leader, demonstrating strong problem‑solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to prioritise under pressure, manage change and apply innovative approaches to teaching in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Knowledgeable and committed to best practice, with sound understanding of legislation, standards and protocols—including ANZ Resuscitation Guidelines, Quality Improvement systems and National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards—and a passion for promoting consumer engagement and safe, high-quality care.
