Job Summary
Colac Otway Shire Council is seeking an experienced finance professional to step into the role of Coordinator, Financial Accounting. The position is a full‐time, onsite role at the Colac office, with hybrid work options.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Services, the Coordinator will lead and oversee a range of essential financial functions to support Council operations and decision making.
Key Responsibilities
* General Financial Reporting
* Statutory Reporting
* Oversee General Taxation Activities
* Monitor Council Treasury
* Policy Development and Implementation
* Assist Internal and External Auditors
* Provide leadership and support for asset accounting and financial reporting activities across the Council
About You
Motivated finance professional with strong technical skills, integrity, accuracy, and the ability to build relationships across all levels. Comfortable with leading teams and collaborating across the organisation.
Success Criteria
* Demonstrated experience working in a similar finance role
* Experience in financial reporting, forecasting, and preparation of financial statements
* Knowledge of accounting standards
* Experience using financial systems
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Willingness to learn, problem‐solve, and contribute to a highly collaborative environment
* Leadership experience is highly regarded; strong technical skills and a people‐focused approach are welcomed
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline are required.
* Previous experience in local government is desirable.
