Job Description Senior Technical Business Analyst – Merchant Payments (Australia) Responsibilities
* Lead requirements definition for complex merchant acquisition, onboarding, and servicing initiatives
* Act as a bridge between product, business, compliance, and technology teams
* Drive deep analysis of onboarding workflows, underwriting rules, risk controls, and servicing processes
* Translate regulatory and scheme requirements into detailed functional and non-functional specifications
* Define data requirements, canonical models, and integration specifications across internal and external systems
* Support solution design by collaborating with architects and engineering teams
* Review and validate delivered solutions against business, compliance, and operational expectations
* Mentor junior Business Analysts and review requirements artefacts for quality and consistency
Skills Required
* 10–12+ years of experience in payments or banking, with strong merchant acquiring exposure
* Deep functional knowledge of merchant onboarding (KYB, AML, risk scoring) and servicing processes
* Experience with Australian regulatory frameworks (AUSTRAC AML/CTF, PCI DSS) and scheme compliance
* Strong skills in requirements elicitation, process modelling, data analysis, and documentation
* Technical understanding of APIs, message flows, microservices, and event-driven architectures
* Experience working with card and EFTPOS acquiring platforms or merchant management systems
* Strong communication skills, capable of engaging with senior business and technical stakeholders
* Prior exposure to agile and iterative delivery models
