Role Details
Full‐time, continuing Lecturer position at the Faculty of Arts, Asia Institute. Salary: UOM5 $124,656 – $148,023 per annum plus 17% superannuation. Education‐focused Lecturer role shaping Asian Studies curriculum and teaching across contemporary themes.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate Asian Studies subjects, including lectures, tutorials, seminars, and assessment tasks.
* Design, review and innovate curricula, integrating cross‐disciplinary perspectives, digital tools and contemporary developments in Asian Studies.
* Develop technology‐enhanced and overseas learning opportunities, including student mobility and micro‐credential or executive education offerings.
* Supervise honours and postgraduate theses where appropriate, providing rigorous guidance on Asian Studies topics and methodologies.
* Contribute to pedagogical scholarship and academic leadership, including grants, committees, policy compliance and professional development activities.
Qualifications
* Completed PhD in a relevant discipline with a clear specialization in Asian Studies.
* Detailed understanding of Southeast Asian language, culture, society and/or politics, especially mainland Southeast Asia or the Philippines.
* Evidence of strong tertiary teaching, coordinating subjects and developing engaging resources across diverse Asian Studies topics.
* Experience teaching subjects on themes such as human rights, policy, digital technologies, languages, society and the Asian century.
* Supervisor of honours and postgraduate research with a sustained record of pedagogical or disciplinary scholarship.
* Effective time and administration management, interpreting policies and creating inclusive learning environments for diverse student cohorts.
