Transportation Specialist, Transportation Operations Management (TOM) - Day Shift

Are you ready to solve transportation mysteries and help Amazon deliver world class service to our customers? If so, we are seeking a candidate who would be keen to join our team at our Sort Centre in Craigieburn. As a Transportation Specialist, you will be a vital member of Amazon Transportation Services. You will oversee team members performing trailer moves, coordinate yard activities (such as check in, traffic flow, internal communications with dock teams, etc.), conduct yard audits, conduct yard inductions, complete driver training programs (Hostler, CDL School, etc.), and other tasks as assigned in accordance with business need to support Amazon's transportation network wherever applicable. This role requires flexibility to work different shifts both days and nights.
Key Job Responsibilities
* Creating, sending an End of Shift report on a daily basis with all the load details that arrived and departed from the site, including the delay arrival reasons when carriers arrive late and any action items for the delays.
* Communicating with OB (Outbound) dock team and NOC (Network Operations Center) to give reasons for delays when drivers arrive late and depart late.
* Coordinating with multiple carriers and their contacts for any site related escalations on carrier pickups and delivery issues, including informing them of any weather related disruptions to yard activities.
* Establishing and communicating daily load plan development/changes to NOC, internal stakeholders and external stakeholders.
* Daily monitoring with FC (Fulfillment Centre) operations departments, transportation peers and carriers to ensure all trailers arrive and depart on time.
* Consolidating data from multiple data sources to generate daily, weekly, monthly reports to support business needs, uncover data integrity issues, and identify patterns which could be proactively mitigated.
* Engaging carrier drivers and delivery drivers in the yard as needed to maintain yard organization, yard safety and minimize delays.
* Using internal systems to gather data from multiple sources to support reporting on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis such as SSP (Sortation Platform), FMC (Freight Management Console), YMS (Yard Management System), etc.
Additional Responsibilities
In addition to the above you will also:
* Adhere to company rules and regulations and make safety a priority at all times.
* Perform various functions within the yard, support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers, as needed, to ensure all trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects and to maintain a fluid trailer pool.
* Comply with company policies, procedures, and local regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting requirements, break periods, etc.).
* Work at locations within node on a need by basis to support the business, 38 hours/week and overtime as required.
* Stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Basic Qualifications
* Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
* Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
* High school or equivalent.
* Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required.
* 1+ years of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) experience.
* Experience working in warehouse, logistics, transportation, distribution centre or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
* Familiarity with yard management systems, freight management tools, or similar operational software.
* Experience coordinating with multiple external partners or stakeholders.
* Knowledge of load quality standards or freight safety compliance.
* Experience analyzing operational data and generating performance reports.
