Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to play a critical role in the delivery, enhancement, and transformation of a cards issuing platform. Some examples of card issuing platforms / products are VisionPlus, FirstVision, VisionNext, TSYS (Prime), HPS PowerCard etc. Experience in at least one of those or similar platforms on the card issuing side is a MUST. Merchant acquiring platform experience is separate and shouldn't be confused with card issuing platform.
Key Skills Required
* Core Experience
* Strong experience as a Business Analyst within cards issuing or payments environments, ideally in banking or large‐scale payments platforms.
* Proven experience delivering change across POS, ATM, and eCommerce transaction environments.
* Hands‐on involvement in cards platform implementations, enhancements, or migrations.
Card Issuing Platforms (Advantageous)
* Prior experience working with one or more of the following cards issuing platforms will be a strong advantage:
* VISION PLUS
* TSYS
* FIS
* FISERV
* Global Payments
Payment Gateways & Acceptance Platforms (Advantageous)
* Experience working with one or more of the following payment gateways or acceptance platforms is desirable:
* Worldline
* Verifone
* MPGS (Mastercard Payment Gateway Services)
Cards & Payments Expertise
* Strong understanding of issuing‐side transaction processing, authorisation logic, clearing and settlement, disputes, and chargebacks.
* Experience working with card management systems, processors, payment switches, and core banking integrations.
* Solid understanding of PCI‐DSS, data protection, and regulatory obligations in card issuing.
Key Responsibilities Cards Issuing Platform Ownership
* Lead business analysis activities across the cards issuing platform, covering the full card lifecycle including issuance, activation, renewals, replacements, controls, and closures.
* Define and document functional and non‐functional requirements for issuing platforms supporting multi‐channel transaction processing.
* Support product configuration including limits, fees, controls, lifecycle rules, and customer servicing features.
End‐to‐End Transaction & Channel Analysis
* Analyse and document end‐to‐end transaction flows across POS, ATM, and eCommerce channels, including authorisation, reversals, clearing, settlement, and exception handling.
* Work closely with operations and technology teams to ensure accurate handling of edge cases such as declines, partial approvals, offline transactions, and fallbacks.
* Support reconciliation, reporting, and operational readiness for issuing‐related changes.
Card Schemes & Compliance
* Act as a subject‐matter expert on card scheme rules, mandates, and change impacts on issuing platforms.
* Demonstrate strong, hands‐on experience with Mastercard issuing requirements (mandatory).
* Provide working knowledge of Visa and American Express issuing models and scheme interactions.
* Support scheme certification, testing, and compliance activities in collaboration with processors and vendors.
Delivery & Change Execution
* Translate business needs into clear epics, features, user stories, process flows, and functional specifications.
* Partner with architects, engineers, and testers to clarify requirements, validate designs, and support solution delivery.
* Support SIT, UAT, and production readiness activities, including acceptance criteria definition and business scenario validation.
* Act as a key liaison between business stakeholders, operations teams, technology delivery, and third‐party vendors.
* Facilitate workshops, walkthroughs, and design sessions to align on requirements and solution approaches.
* Support vendor‐led initiatives such as issuing platform upgrades, processor changes, or new capability enablement.
Risk, Control & Regulatory Alignment
* Embed PCI‐DSS, data privacy, and regulatory requirements into analysis deliverables.
* Identify operational risks, control gaps, and scheme compliance impacts, recommending practical mitigations.
* Support audit, risk, and compliance engagements related to cards issuing and payments processing.
