Overview
Full time continuing position available. Exciting opportunity for a Lecturer to contribute to teaching and research within the Discipline of Exercise and Sport Sciences and the Sydney School of Health Sciences.
Base Salary ranging from $127,436 - $179,998 + 17% superannuation. The appointment is a continuing 40% (teaching), 40% (research), and 20% (service) position, with opportunities to develop and contribute to research and teaching in occupational therapy as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the Faculty of Medicine and Health.
The Sydney School of Health Sciences is experiencing significant growth and investment as part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health's strategic vision. The School is ranked highly in its field. The incumbent will be committed to making significant contributions to teaching and learning and engage in educational leadership within their School/Faculty.
This role may be filled at Lecturer (level B) or Senior Lecturer (level C) depending on qualifications and experience, with responsibilities varying accordingly.
Responsibilities
* Undertake a leadership role in educational innovation, curriculum design and review, contributing to outstanding educational delivery and outcomes.
* Engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the University's expectations and standards for education.
* Contribute to the School's research activities, expertise, and impact.
* Engage in supervision of higher-degree research students.
* Establish collaborations and partnerships to enhance the research profile and reputation of the university.
* Carry out administrative tasks primarily connected with the area of discipline.
* Contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled.
* Undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.
In addition, level C duties may include the following:
* Be a subject matter expert, able to work under broad direction to deliver goals strategically and autonomously within set timeframes.
* Resolve complex matters, provide sound advice and exercise independent judgement to achieve goals related to teaching and research.
* Assume staffing responsibilities as appropriate or determine resourcing needs.
About you
* A PhD in a relevant discipline.
* Current professional registration/accreditation with Exercise & Sport Science Australia (ESSA) is desirable.
* Strong research profile evidenced by original, high-quality research.
* Proven experience in supervising and mentoring students.
* Teaching experience in biomechanics including course design, coordination, delivery, and assessment.
* Demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives.
* Experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities.
* Developed knowledge of the key strategic issues in the discipline and higher education sector.
* Demonstrated ability to foster inclusive, equitable and respectful learning environments.
* For level C: Proven reputation at a national level as influential in expanding knowledge, pedagogical or curriculum innovation; established network of academic, industry and professional partners and stakeholders; significant experience conducting original research and engaging in scholarly activity.

Sponsorship/work rights for Australia: For a continuing position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident. Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on requirements.
