Come and be part of a landmark transformation of our Financial Crime & Fraud Operations (FC&FO). As we build a best-in-class financial crime first line accountability, this function is responsible for the operational management of BEN’s financial crime controls across AML, sanctions, fraud and scams. It will deliver investigation capability, detection systems, financial crime intelligence, regulatory reporting governance and operational support to identify, prevent and respond to financial crime risks impacting BEN.


About the opportunity

As part of our landmark transformation, we are seeking the Head of Financial Crime Intelligence Unit and reporting to the Executive, Financial Crime & Fraud Operations, you will lead BEN’s Financial Crime Intelligence Unit, shaping BEN’s intelligence capability to identify, assess and respond to emerging financial crime threats.

You will be responsible for the development of intelligence products, threat assessments and analytical insights that inform detection, prevention and broader financial crime response across AML/CTF, sanctions, fraud and scams.

In particular you will get to:

* Lead the Financial Crime Intelligence Unit, shaping how intelligence, typologies and emerging threat insights are used to strengthen detection and prevention across AML/CTF, fraud and sanctions. Identify and assess emerging financial crime threats through horizon scanning and external intelligence, translating insights into actionable outputs for detection, risk and operational teams. Build strong industry and regulatory relationships to leverage external intelligence, ensuring the bank remains responsive to evolving financial crime risks.
* Support the delivery of the Financial Crime & Fraud Operations strategy by developing and executing plans that strengthen operational capability.
* Encourage innovation and continuous improvement in intelligence analysis techniques, data use and information sharing practices to strengthen BEN’s financial crime response.

This is a permanent full-time position ideally located in Melbourne or Adelaide but for an outstanding candidate other locations may be considered.


What you’ll bring to the role

To succeed in this role you will have:

* Deep expertise in financial crime intelligence, including development of typologies, identification of emerging threats and translation intelligence into actionable outcomes across AML/CTF, sanctions and fraud.
* Proven ability to lead intelligence or analytical teams, delivering insights that inform detection and risk management in complex and regulated environments.
* Strong understanding of external intelligence sources, industry collaboration and regulatory expectations, with the ability to leverage these to strengthen the Bank’s financial crime response. Ability to lead change initiatives and drive improvements in operational capability, processes and technology.
* Demonstrated capability to connect data, intelligence and operational outcomes, ensuring insights are effectively embedded into detection, prevention and broader financial crime frameworks. Tertiary qualification in relevant field with Financial Crime Industry qualifications such as ACAMs, AFCS highly desirable.
