The School
O'Connor Primary School (PS) is a friendly school that values the support and participation of the school community. The staff are dedicated and enthusiastic in their endeavour to ensure the best outcomes possible for every student. This is epitomised in the school motto 'Friendship and Achievement' which drives the school’s values program which also focuses on Inclusion and Respect (FAIR). O'Connor PS has a solid focus on Restorative Practice.
The school is well resourced with many new buildings and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) being placed into classrooms. We have several purpose-built rooms to cater for science and music which complement the general teaching classrooms. The grounds are well developed, and several areas are designed for specific age groups.
O'Connor is in Kalgoorlie-Boulder and was named after Charles Yelverton O'Connor (CYO), the Chief Engineer for Western Australia from 1891 until his death in 1902. CYO designed and, for the most part, guided the construction of the Goldfields Water Supply Scheme that first brought water to Kalgoorlie in 1903, as it does today.
Kalgoorlie-Boulder has a population of over 30 000 and lies 600 km east of Perth. It is primarily a mining and service city. O'Connor PS was constructed in 1996 and has grown steadily to reach a population of over 800 students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

The Role
We are seeking dedicated and adaptable K-6 Teachers. Suitable applicants should exhibit the ability to work independently across a variety of school settings and possess strong interpersonal skills. O’Connor PS is well-regarded within the community for its strong and positive reputation. Our teachers work collaboratively, using the Western Australian Curriculum, Early Years and Primary Learning Frameworks, and ICT to design learning environments that are differentiated, engaging, supportive, and creative. These environments should cater to the diverse needs of all students. All teaching and learning programs must uphold dignity and respect for every learner, with a strong emphasis on Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) and values-based education.
Suitable applicants will actively support the implementation of the school’s Business Plan, contribute effectively within a team teaching environment, and be commitment to whole-school approaches and initiatives. An evidence-based teaching approach is ideal.
