Department of People, Sport and Culture (DPSC) is a multi-functional human services and community-focused agency that works to provide responsive, safe and quality services and programs that empower communities and improve social outcomes for Territorians.
Positioned within DPSC, the Library & Archives unit comprehensively collects the documentary heritage of the NT in all its forms, published and unpublished, print and digital, including the NT Government’s archives, as well as providing services to operate and develop the NT’s public library network.
As the Senior Director, you provide strategic and operational leadership to facilitate the delivery of community focussed, quality library and archives services to operate and develop the Territory’s public library network.
Your key duties involve delivering concise, up-to-date information, high level subject matter expertise, advice and recommendations concerning library and archives services to the CEO, senior executives and the Minister as required. Overseeing three locations you will provide strong, effective leadership and management, building a culture of ethical conduct, innovation, professional growth and continuous improvements.
To be successful, you require extensive knowledge and experience in a leadership role within an environment delivering high-quality library and archives services, a sound understanding of organisational and business management practices, and advanced communication and interpersonal skills. The capacity to successfully interpret and manage the social, political and organisational environment to achieve effective outcomes is essential.
Applicants with degree qualifications in librarianship or archives management and eligible for admission to the Australian Library and Information Association or the Australian Society of Archivists are encouraged to apply.
This role may be filled for a 4-year fixed period under the Executive Contract Officer (ECO1) designation or ongoing under the Senioa Administrative Officer (SAO2) designation.
