CASUAL GROUNDSPERSON
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently looking for a suitably qualified Grounds person at our four racecourses - Warwick Farm, Rosehill Gardens, Royal Randwick and Canterbury Park Racecourse. Reporting to the Racecourse Manager, this casual position will be responsible for working with the team to maintain the course proper, training tracks and grounds ensuring they are presented in the best possible condition.
DAY TO DAY, THE ROLE WILL:
* Undertake general maintenance work including labouring, cleaning, tracks, gardens and maintenance instructions
* Operate plant equipment such as tractors, mowers, front end loader forklift, power sweepers, power harrows, brush cutters, hedgers, push mowers and general spray operations
* Conduct routine maintenance of turf, synthetic, artificial and other surfaces
THE RIGHT FIT
To be successful in the role, the right fit will possess:
* Demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably in turf maintenance/ horticulture
* Provide routine maintenance of turf, synthetic, artificial and other play surfaces
* General operational and mechanical maintenance skills
* Appropriate licences to operate specialist machinery such as a manual vehicle, front end loader and forklifts (as applicable)
* Experience in operating plant and equipment including Bobcat, Grader and Excavator would be desirable
* Sound knowledge and practical experience of handling and spraying chemicals
* A demonstrable ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Sound verbal and interpersonal communication skills
* Sound literacy and numeracy skills
GAP ATTENDANTS
We are currently looking for casual GAP Attendants. This casual role will be responsible for assisting the operational control of relevant activities with regards to training, barrier trails and race-day trackwork. These opportunities are available at Warwick Farm, Rosehill Gardens and Royal Randwick.
THE RIGHT FIT
To be successful in the role, the right fit will have the following experience and capability:
* Familiar and comfortable with horses with the potential risk of exposure to horse incidents and fatalities
* Ability to identify rider safety gear and horse gear
* Safety conscious approach and ability to conduct safety checks and assessments
* Sound verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
* Enjoy working outdoors
* A can-do attitude
