Do you have a professional phone manner, strong multitasking skills, and a passion for helping others - all from behind the scenes? Central Coast Local Health District is seeking Switchboard & Patient Enquiries Offices in a casual capacity, where you’ll play a vital role in ensuring timely and accurate communication across the hospital.

Overview

Operate the hospital switchboard to manage incoming and outgoing calls with accuracy, professionalism, and prompt redirection to the appropriate departments. Provide courteous and helpful assistance to patients, staff, and the public, including handling urgent or emergency calls in line with hospital protocols. Utilise internal systems to access, record, and relay critical information while ensuring messages and enquiries are logged and managed efficiently. Perform general administrative support tasks, including data entry, filing, and record updates, to maintain accurate and organised communications. Stay calm, composed, and customer-focused in high-pressure situations while working collaboratively with all departments to ensure smooth, timely communication across the hospital.

Responsibilities

- Deliver consistently exceptional customer service with a warm, professional approach across phone, email, and face-to-face interactions.
- Manage high call volumes with a clear and confident phone manner, multitask effectively, and remain calm under pressure.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills with a focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Be proficient using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and databases, with excellent data entry and administrative skills.
- Collaborate as a team member and work independently, with a proactive attitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting others when needed.
