About The Role
The Cost Engineer delivers timely and accurate product cost estimates to support toy design, development, and manufacturing. Working closely with cross‐functional teams, the role provides cost transparency through should‐cost analysis, ensuring alignment with design, feasibility, and cost targets, while also contributing to the improvement of costing tools and processes.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and validate product cost estimates to ensure accuracy and transparency
* Develop detailed cost models and scenario comparisons to inform design decisions and support CAPEX investments
* Collaborate with Design, Marketing, and Engineering teams to align requirements with cost assumptions
* Partner with Asia‐based teams to analyse manufacturing processes, validate cost drivers, assess supplier inputs, and support cost negotiations
* Build, maintain, and enhance "should‐cost" models, costing tools, and component cost libraries
* Provide clear cost visibility, identifying risks and opportunities throughout the product development lifecycle
* Contribute to design reviews, offering input on cost‐efficient design and manufacturing options
* Support continuous improvement of costing methodologies, data quality, and processes
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering
* 5+ years' experience in industrial, manufacturing, or product engineering within a product development environment
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and techniques, ideally within toys or FMCG
* Proven experience in product costing, including BOM analysis, should‐cost modelling, and cost driver analysis
* Hands‐on experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles and methodologies
* Proficiency in CAD and data analysis tools (experience with AI‐enabled tools is advantageous)
* Experience working with overseas suppliers, particularly in Asia
* Self‐driven with a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to lead initiatives and deliver results independently
