The role

All Things Equal is an innovative social‐enterprise providing purposeful paid employment, training and work‐readiness for people with disability in the hospitality industry. We're on the hunt for hospitality professionals to join our Pre Employment Program team, to support our trainees to gain foundation hospitality and employment skills.

All Things Equal is a social enterprise empowering people with disability through award‐wage employment, purposeful training, and pathways to rewarding careers in hospitality. We exist to bridge the gap between people with disability and the wider community. In four short years, we have created award‐wage employment for 31 people with disability, paid over $510,000 in award wages, and seen 11 trainees secure employment with mainstream employers.

Our Employment Pathway program has been developed to act as a stepping stone towards mainstream employment. Within our supportive hospitality environment, trainees gain essential transferable skills, build confidence in communication, and foster meaningful community connections.

We run a flagship cafe in Balaclava, a cooking school, a footy club canteen, and have a catering offering that we are super proud of.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're on the hunt for an experienced hospitality professional to join our Pre‐Employment Program team and support trainees to build foundation hospitality and employment skills. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for the professional development of our trainees, providing 1:1 support, hands‐on direction and coaching to trainees to build their capabilities.

Specifically, you will support trainees in undertaking work experience at our Football Canteen on Sundays, and following the end of the football season, you will support facilitation of our Pre‐Employment Program sessions with small groups of trainees during the week.

This will include:

  • Together with the trainee, provide excellent customer service to all customers, including all elements of service from engaging with customers, taking orders, preparing drink orders, serving food and drinks and processing payments.
  • Ensure the professional development of the trainee on shift is the primary focus, whilst balancing this with the operational needs of the enterprise, as directed by the manager. This includes the wellbeing of the trainee, as it relates to work.
  • Support trainees to be engaged, focused, calm, and working to their best capacity.
  • Track trainees progress against the tasks and competencies outlined within our capability framework.
  • Prepare visual resources for trainees to support independence and capacity building in the workplace.
  • Participate in regular mentoring and feedback sessions with the Program Manager to discuss any challenges, successes, or opportunities you observe for each trainee during their shift.

Our Hospitality Trainers will be supported by an incredibly passionate leadership team, and provided with career development opportunities with Disability specialists to develop skills, talent and expertise in your role as Hospitality Trainer. Whether you've worked in the disability space in the past or you're new to it, you will be supported along your journey.

This is a part time / casual role based in the Caulfield / Balaclava area.
