An exciting opportunity exists for a clinician with a strong interest in and commitment to improving physical health within mental health to join an experienced and dedicated Acute Mental Health Team at the Ryde Community Mental Health Centre.

Employment Type: Temporary Full Time until 11 July 2027 (with possibility of ongoing employment)

Remuneration: $2,501.46 - $2,552.65 per week

Where you'll be working

Ryde Acute Team, Ryde Community Mental Health Centre, Eastwood

Ryde Hospital is having an incredible $479 million complete hospital redevelopment that will transform the delivery of healthcare for the Ryde local community. The Ryde Hospital Redevelopment will result in new health facilities and enhanced services including emergency, ICU/critical care, inpatient units, outpatient/ambulatory care services and much more. Construction commenced in early 2023, and will provide you with a wonderful and exciting opportunity to be part of the Ryde team to change the future health services for the Ryde Community completely.

What you'll be doing

The Mental Health Clinical Nurse Consultant, grade 1 (CNC) works as a member of the North Shore Ryde (NSR) Community Acute Teams with a focus on the provision of expert knowledge for consumers with complex co‐morbid mental and physical health needs.

The CNC will work across both Lower North Shore and Ryde Community Mental Health Centres and will be responsible for the screening and management of the physical health of consumers of the NSR Acute and Early Intervention (EIS) Mental Health Teams.

In collaboration with Community Mental Health staff, the CNC will develop and evaluate evidence‐based quality improvement processes pertaining to the physical health care of consumers, noting the reduced life expectancy of this population.

Qualifications
* Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment, and demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders, colleagues, direct reports, patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
* A Registered Nurse who has a minimum of 5 years full time post graduate experience within mental health nursing. The applicant must also have an approved post graduate qualification and/or substantial relevant experience deemed appropriate by the employer.
* Demonstrated ability to initiate and lead evidence‐based nursing practice in the assessment, care planning and care delivery of people with complex mental and physical health issues in a community setting.
* Demonstrated ability in the development and delivery of educational resources and programs.
* Demonstrated advanced clinical skills in mental health clinical assessment and management including use of information data systems including FirstNet and eMR.
* Proven ability to provide clinical leadership to mental health clinicians in the management of mental health consumers with demonstrated high level ability to network and communicate across a range of internal and external key partners.
* Current knowledge and high level of understanding of Mental Health Strategic Plans, Standards, Circulars and Policy Frameworks which have an impact on current mental health practice in relation to consumers' physical health care needs.
* Current NSW Driver's Licence and Accredited Persons certification (or willingness to attend Accredited Persons training).
