Technical planning is a key part of Northern Star's success. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced underground planning engineer to join our high-performing Technical Services team at Mount Charlotte Operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering mine plans in a safe and efficient manner, utilising industry best practice. This involves producing accurate and clear mine instructions by bringing conceptual designs to execution-ready plans for approval by senior engineers.
Our team is known for its dynamic nature and physical achievements, and the successful candidate will contribute significantly to the delivery of technical designs in this historic 60-year-old mining complex spanning multiple orebodies.
Key responsibilities include:
* Producing accurate and clear mine instructions (lateral and vertical mine development, stope notes) by bringing conceptual designs to execution-ready plans for approval by senior engineers.
* Ensuring issued instructions are clear, correct, and understandable to operations.
* Working closely with the geology team to ensure designs align with available geological information.
* Undertaking evaluation of prospective remnant areas.
* Assisting management of underground contractors for project work where required.
* Working closely with survey and operations to prioritise and execute development activities.
* Contributing to the completion of various other Mine Planning Department functions, such as budgets/forecasts, life-of-mine plans, reserves, ventilation & capital projects.
* Participating in safety and daily compliance meetings.
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
* Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering.
* A current Western Australian driver's licence (manual).
* Experience with a mine design software – preferably Deswik CAD and IS.
* Underground production and planning experience in a mechanised hard-rock underground mine.
* Good communication skills.
* Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
* A St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).
* Awareness of the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulation 2022.
* Underground time completed.
