Daracon Group, widely recognised for its strong presence in civil construction, established its Rail Division to support short-term contracts servicing rail infrastructure needs across the Hunter Valley. Since then, the division has grown significantly, expanding its capabilities to include track reconditioning and earthworks construction, rail bridge and drainage structures, re-rail, and maintenance and track certification services.

The Rail team operates out of the Mount Thorley Depot and is equipped to deliver rail solutions across Australia. While capable of mobilising nationally, the team's core geographic focus aligns with the ARTC Hunter Valley network and key mine sites throughout the Hunter Region.

As part of the broader Daracon Group, the Rail Division has access to extensive resources, including a modern fleet of plant and equipment, construction materials and an experienced leadership team to support you in this role. We are currently seeking a Rail Manager to lead our team of Project Managers, Supervisors, Project Engineers, Protection Officers and Rail Workers. In this role, you will contribute to the successful delivery of rail projects across the Hunter Valley and regional New South Wales.

Key responsibilities
* Manage, lead and coordinate the rail team
* Lead and manage rail projects from tender through to delivery and close out
* Oversee project planning, scheduling, cost control and risk management
* Month end reporting including forecast and variance reporting
* Develop and maintain strong client relationships and continued business development opportunities
* Ensure all works comply with safety, quality, environmental and contractual requirements
* Strong understanding of rail operations, safety systems, and regulatory frameworks.
* Knowledge of rail safety legislation (e.g., Rail Safety National Law in Australia).
* Oversee recruitment, training, rostering, and performance management.
To be considered for this role, you should have
* A degree or tertiary level qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar
* Experience in rail environments and a sound understanding of rail safety legislative requirements and relevant network codes, standards and guidelines
* Demonstrated leadership experience in managing a team
* Ability to deliver projects safely
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* High level of organisation and problem-solving ability
* Rail Industry Worker (RIW) card or ability to obtain
* Construction Industry White card
* Valid class C drivers licence
