ABOUT THE ROLE
New Chapter is expanding our team of dedicated, passionate, and committed Support Workers to provide direct support to participants with complex support needs.
*Disability Support Workers will be self-motivated individuals with a strong values-based approach. They will also need to demonstrate a problem-solving approach with the ability to think on their feet under pressure.
Disability Support Workers will report directly to the Team Leaders and/or Program Experience Leaders. They will work closely with other Disability Support Workers and Team Leaders within the team.*
Disability Support Workers work with children and adults all over Hobart and greater region including Huonville, New Norfolk and Brighton and everywhere in between and will need to demonstrate the ability to travel.
All positions will be offered as casual with the potential for permanency after probation period is complete.

We are looking for somebody who;

* Demonstrates a problem-solving approach with the ability to think on their feet under pressure;

* Passionate about providing high quality supports;
* A real desire to make a difference to the lives of people living with a disability.
* A trauma-informed and child-centered approach to support
* Ability to provide emergency or short notice supports when required, demonstrating flexibility, reliability and a commitment to meeting participant needs
REQUIREMENTS THAT ARE A MUST
* Relevant qualifications, or the willingness to obtain;
* Flexible and adaptable in approach;
* Understanding of NDIS and NDIS Quality & Safeguards;
* Rights to work in Australia;
* Current Drivers license;
* Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration (or ability to obtain);
* Current National Police Check (or ability to obtain);
* Assist Clients with Medications and Recognize Healthy Bodies;
* Current First Aid & CPR certificate
* Experience working with complex care individuals that may display behaviors of concern
* Experience working with participants who require PEG feeding
* Experience working with children and young people engaged with Child Safety Services, including providing trauma informed supports
* NDIS Worker Screening
A FEW REQUIREMENTS THAT ARE DESIRABLE
* Related Qualifications (e.g: Certificate in Individual Support, Aged Care and/or Home and Community Care);
* Person-Centred Values;
* Willingness to learn;
* Good communication skills (Verbal & Written);
* Good computer skills;
* Generalized Epilepsy Training
* PEG Credentialling
* DECYP Child Safety Training
