The Heritage Coordinator has a key role in the Built Heritage team, assisting in the management of heritage values of the place and its collections. Old Parliament House is on the National and Commonwealth Heritage lists and is protected under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) and the Old Parliament House and Curtilage Heritage Management Plan (HMP).
The Heritage Coordinator will work in the agile Capital Projects and Built Heritage Section contributing to the delivery of projects at Old Parliament House. The Heritage Coordinator will provide specialist heritage advice to ensure project delivery is consistent with the EPBC Act and the Old Parliament House HMP.
The Heritage Coordinator will work closely with colleagues in other teams in the museum including Facilities, Heritage and Collections, and Exhibitions, and will play an important role in ensuring organisational outcomes are achieved in harmony with heritage values that recognise, preserve and communicate the spirit of place.

The key duties of the position include:
Under the guidance of the Manager, Built Heritage, the Heritage Coordinator will be required to:
* Support the manager of Built Heritage and through them, the Section Head and other colleagues.
* Provide written and verbal heritage advice, based on research and policy aimed at meeting agency objectives to deliver projects whilst protecting the heritage values, for final review or approval by the Manager, Built Heritage.
* Represent Built Heritage at project meetings, track and monitor projects, identify and communicate heritage risks and advise on milestones where heritage inspections and approvals are required.
* Work with Capital Projects and manage project data and records, ensuring to improve the amount and accuracy of heritage documentation of changes, including photography. Provide direction to colleagues and coordinate others to correctly obtain and file or archive in KeEmu, all records as part of project closure.
* Prepare content for reporting including the quarterly Board Report and the Annual Report
* Communicate the Place’s heritage values by working closely with colleagues across the organization on collaborative projects including exhibitions, events, and public communications.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of heritage management processes and tools.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, external contractors including specialist trades, conservation experts, and others to achieve the desired outcomes. Manage contractors and provide direction to junior staff.
* Identify and prepare heritage approvals, amendments, records and closure reports as required during planning, delivery and handover of works. Ensure these accord with the HMP requirements and the Actions Committee process. Assist with drafting of documentation and review with Manager, Built Heritage, before Committee submission.
* Document and accession heritage finds, including building fabric that are removed by works, into the Building Collection using Ke EMu. Update building information on Ke EMu as required with new information as it arises.

* have a security clearance or be willing to undertake the process to obtain a baseline clearance (after commencement).
