The Role

Hudson has partnered with a high profile national peak non-profit organisation seeking an experienced Policy Analyst to support the development, coordination, implementation and monitoring of policy initiatives, projects and research to inform national policies and strategies.

Duties:

- Provide expert, evidence-informed written and oral advice to the Lead Policy Analyst to progress advocacy and representational responsibilities to inform national policies and strategies.
- Support and nurture relationships with members and key stakeholders, and work with members and key stakeholders to identify and develop policy solutions and inform decision making.
- Prepare high-quality, evidence-informed policy papers, submissions, position statements, correspondence, written reports, publications, and briefs.
- Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of policy projects, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and effective collaboration with internal and externalstakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with communication and program teams to ensure cohesive and effective policy messaging.
- Understand the complex and interconnected relationships between different and intersecting policy responsibilities across different areas of government.
- Represent the interests in meetings with key stakeholders, on research project committees, and in other settings and for other purposes as agreed.
- Ensure compliance with governance and quality requirements, to successfully deliver policy priorities.

Do You Have?

Essential

- Tertiary degree qualifications in a relevant discipline and substantial experience in the not-for-profit community sector, public health sector, or government.
- Experience in policy development and/or strategic planning including the ability to synthesise and communicate complex ideas and information.
- Demonstrated ability to understand the social, political and organisational environments in which national peak bodies operate.
- Ability to contribute own expertise and work under minimal supervision and as part of a small team to achieve work outcomes, through the ability to plan, support business functions and deliver intended results within agreed timeframes.
- Demonstrated motivation, self-reflection and commitment to learning; demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and professional judgement; and ability to adapt existing skills and knowledge to new situations.
- Highly developed consultation, collaboration and negotiation skills, including the ability to use contemporary communication channels (e.g. online meeting platforms) to share complex information and engage and interact with diverse audiences, and highly effective internal and external stakeholder engagement and management.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to prepare and contribute to a range of written materials in a concise manner with a high attention to detail to achieve strategic outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute positively to small team dynamics, and to deliver on expected work outcomes under both hybrid and remote working conditions.
- Highly developed IT skills including the Microsoft Office 365 suite.

Desirable

- Experience in the operations and/or organisation of the Australian health system at a Commonwealth or state/territory level, including either funding, planning, service delivery, evaluation, continuous quality improvement or commissioning, and/or an understanding of federal government policy development and processes (e.g. the development of budget proposals and submissions), and/or experience in federal/state government relationships.
- Experience in processes relating to changes to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and Medicare Benefits Schedule.

This pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading
