WheelEasy is a unique charity dedicated to providing mobility-impaired individuals, along with their families and friends, the same opportunities to enjoy leisure activities as everyone else. It promotes and advances their basic human rights and freedoms.
It operates a web-app that serves as a comprehensive, accurate, and current source of accessibility information—essentially, a TripAdvisor for access—covering popular destinations and activities for outings and trips.
In the 21st century, it is unfair that some people cannot access places most of us take for granted. You can help change that.
Job Description:
As a WheelEasy intern, you will contribute to assessing and improving the accessibility of venues in both public and private sectors across Australia.
Your responsibilities include expanding the WheelEasy web-app by adding accessibility information for a specific city (currently focusing on Canberra). This involves gathering online accessibility info and photos, evaluating their relevance, and creating draft listings for approval by venue owners. Additionally, you will collect information about activities suitable for groups or families, enhancing the platform's offerings for leisure ideas.
Why Join Us:
WheelEasy offers students and volunteers a chance to help people with mobility impairments enjoy life more fully. Students are encouraged to apply and will receive guidance to complete their university placements. This remote role requires empathy and an understanding that everyone deserves inclusion. Regular briefings and check-ins via Zoom will keep you connected to the team. Although unpaid, opportunities include attending business trips, conferences, and meetings at no cost to you.

This chance is open to applicants with the following work rights: Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, International Student/Graduate Visa, Australian Work Visa (All Other), or Visa Sponsorship included.
