About the role
The Mater Hospital Brisbane has an opportunity available for an experienced Senior Administration Officer to join our Emergency Department. We have two vacancies in this team:
- Part time basis, 20 hours per week, maximum term contract (ending 27th January 2026)
- Part time basis, 12 hours per week, maximum term contract (ending 30th November 2025)
As a Senior Administration Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating administrative activities within the Emergency Department. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the department, providing support to medical staff, and delivering outstanding service to our patients.
Shifts are 8 hours in total and all staff are expected to be available across the 24/7 rotating roster. This includes mornings (as early as 5am), afternoons (from 1:30pm) and nights starting from 6pm, and all public holidays and weekends.
- Providing Exceptional Customer Service to patients and clients
- Processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges and the preparation of clinical forms
- Providing administrative support to clinical staff
- Maintaining a high level of discretion and confidentiality, complying with administration and financial policy and procedures, and maintaining accurate, current and accessible files, including records of relevant meetings and discussions
- Drafting routine correspondence on behalf of senior management
- Providing administrative assistance to other senior staff and others as requested
- Exercise judgement to solve immediate problems in situations where precedents are not defined
About you
- Highly experienced in providing medical administration support
- Highly developed time management and organisational skills
- Strong computer skills including competence in using Patient Administration systems (or the ability to quickly learn current systems)
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to organise and prioritise work effectively within a busy, fast-paced and demanding environment
