Steelmaking Coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.

Dawson Mine is a large and dynamic open cut steelmaking coal mine operation made up of two operating pits - Central and South. It commenced operations in 1961 and is one of the oldest coal mining operations in Central Queensland with no signs of slowing down. Dawson Mine is rich in history, it was the first mine in Australia to export coal to Japan in 1961 and was the first mine to introduce draglines into its operation in 1963 – join the legacy today

Job Description :

We are seeking a passionate, relationship-driven HR Officer to join our HR team based at Dawson Mine. This fast paced and dynamic position is based on site where you will support the mine's Human Resources Business Partnering portfolio. This includes provision of both corporate and site Human Resources systems, processes and services across the full employment lifecycle in this true "hands on" Human Resources generalist role.

This is the perfect opportunity for someone to step foot into one of the world's most longstanding and rapidly growing industries, in a well-established mine at Dawson.

This role will be rewarding, varied and you will be required to:

- Build and foster collaborative relationships whilst managing the Human Resources plans and key performance indicators.
- Support line leaders with advice across a broad spectrum of areas including recruitment, employee relations, HR metrics, and development.
- Provide support to employees and managers with general HR and payroll enquiries and resolves issues and problems.
- Show demonstrated experience dealing with industrial and employee relations, Unions and Employee Representatives.

Qualifications :

Experience within the mining industry is not essential. We welcome applicants from outside our industry who are willing to bring a new approach to drive best practice.

Key to your success in this role will be your:

- Proven experience in a HR Generalist/Business Partnership role.
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, or a related discipline is desirable.
- Knowledge of relevant employment legislation.
- Proven employee relations and case management experience.
- Exceptional social and communication skills.
- Ability to negotiate to influence and achieve stakeholder engagement.
- Resilient nature, openness for change and demonstrated ability to drive best practice.

- Full-time permanent position based at Dawson Mine, Moura
- Monday to Friday role with 9-day fortnight available
