This position sits within the Finance & Governance division - Enterprise Portfolio Office (EPO) and is responsible for investment prioritisation and investment planning supporting the optimisation of the investment portfolio to achieve AEMO's strategic priorities and corporate plan. The EPO is a governing function that manages the delivery lifecycle governance. The team produces investment portfolio insights and recommendations based on the financial year performance health of the investment portfolio.
About The Role
As a Senior Portfolio Analyst within our Enterprise Portfolio Office, you will play a critical role in managing and optimising our organisation's portfolio of projects and initiatives. You will be responsible for analysing project data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to practice leads to drive strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of portfolio management principles.
This Melbourne-based role works across the organisation with a dotted-line reporting model, partnering with stakeholders across the business to deliver portfolio insight, assurance, funding oversight and benefits realisation.
What You Will Be Doing
* Provide thorough analysis of the enterprise project portfolio, including performance,resourcing, risk and strategic alignment.
* Develop and maintain meaningful portfolio KPIs, turning data into clear insights and practical improvement actions.
* Build forecasting and financial models that support confident planning, budgeting and long-term investment decisions.
* Partner closely with leaders and stakeholders to understand priorities and communicate portfolio insights with clarity and influence.
* Continuously enhance portfolio processes, tools and ways of working to improve transparency, consistency and effectiveness.
* Prepare high-quality portfolio reporting and support the growth and development of junior analysts through guidance and mentoring.
What You Will Bring To The Role
Education
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field or Professional certifications within a PM/ PMO discipline (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP, PMP) preferred.
Experience and Knowledge
* Strong experience supporting enterprise portfolios or related work within complex organisations.
* Highly developed analytical capability, with confidence using tools such as Excel and Power BI.
* Experience with portfolio and project management systems (e.g. Microsoft Project, Clarity) is desirable.
* Clear, confident communicator able to translate complex information into meaningful insights for leaders.
* Comfortable working collaboratively in fast-paced environments with multiple stakeholders and priorities.
* A thoughtful, influential style with a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
