The Role
This role will see you reporting directly to the General Counsel. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of construction and commercial contracts
* Advising on project risk allocation, contract administration, variations, claims, and disputes
* Supporting tender processes and bid documentation from a legal and commercial perspective
* Providing advice on regulatory compliance, WHS, security of payment, and industry-specific legislation
* Managing and coordinating external counsel where required
* Partnering closely with project managers, commercial teams, and senior leadership to deliver commercially sound legal outcomes
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be a talented construction lawyer with a minimum of 4 years' PAE. You will have relevant construction experience at a well regarded law firm or similar in-house role. In addition, you will have:
* Experience in drafting and negotiating key construction and commercial contracts
* An ability to understand the bigger picture and to collaborate effectively with various functions of the business
* Quality training (either in private practice or in-house)
* An ability to provide pragmatic and timely legal advice within a complex commercial and operational setting
* Clear and persuasive written and spoken communication skills
* Negotiation and drafting skills
