The Opportunity
WSP has opportunities for entry‐level Lab Technicians to join our Australian Construction Materials Testing team. While laboratory experience is preferred, this junior role is focused on attitude and learning rather than experience.
What you'll do
* Assist the laboratory team with day‐to‐day and project tasks to deliver high‐quality laboratory results to clients.
* Undertake and assist with routine field and laboratory tests on soil, aggregate, rock and other materials in line with NATA standards.
* Use nuclear densometer gauge, compaction equipment and other test instrumentation.
* Maintain, calibrate and set up equipment for use in testing in line with NATA standards.
* Provide support with the shipping, receiving, logging, handling, storage and disposal of samples.
* Liaise with internal clients as required, focusing on delivering against project deadlines.

You will ideally possess the following
* A team player with initiative, enthusiasm and flexibility.
* Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
* Immediate start.
* Construction Induction (white card).
* Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or willingness to undertake.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
* Basic mathematical skills to at least year 10 level.
* Manual driver's licence.
* Commitment to working safely.
* All candidates will need to complete a pre‐employment medical and Drug and Alcohol test before commencement. Ongoing D&A testing will apply to the position as a requirement of the sites you work on.
