An opportunity has become available for a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist or Senior Medical Officer (Voluntary Assisted Dying Support Service) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10,000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
About the role
Gold Coast Health's Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) support service is responsible for the provision of person-centred, compassionate care, facilitating the delivery of an equitable and responsive service to people on the VAD pathway.
This role will suit any Specialist with an interest in End-of-Life Care, but may particularly suit those with a General Practitioner, Oncology, Haematology, Neurology, or General Medicine background. The role provides clinical specialist support to the VAD service, making a substantial contribution to the development of a culture of medical education and safe, effective patient centered clinical practice.
Requirements for the role
* Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis screening.
* Tuberculosis screening - to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required.
* Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed.
* MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia and registrable as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Candidates with Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or Fellowship of an appropriate Australian Specialist Medical College and holds specialist registration with AHPRA will be considered if they can demonstrate appropriate VAD authorisation, skills and experience.
* Candidates without Fellowship may also be considered if they can demonstrate appropriate VAD authorisation, skills and experience.
* Certified copies of relevant qualification/s and registration must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
* The incumbent must be an Authorised VAD Practitioner in Queensland or be able to obtain certification within 3 months of commencement in the role.
* Authorised VAD Practitioner status must be maintained in this role.
* There are no on-call requirements for this role, however outside of business hours work may occasionally be required on a case-by-case basis to provide patient-centred care.
* The incumbent is subject to obtaining and maintaining local credentialing relevant to the role.
Salary information
* Permanent part time (32 hours per fortnight)
* Senior Staff Specialist: Base hourly rate from $124.13 - $131.61 p.h
* Staff Specialist: Base hourly rate from $103.80 - $120.57 p.h
* Senior Medical Officer: Base hourly rate from $89.87 - $103.80 p.h
* Senior Medical Officer - No Specialist Registration: Base hourly rate $89.87 p.h
* Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
