Job Description
In this role you will:
Initiate and supervise programs related to metal and plastic finishing.
Generate specifications and manufacturing layouts and consult with engineering and quality.Establish and track required connector quality assurance testing weekly and monthly such as salt spray, tabor abrasion, and corrosion of conversion coatings as defined by military and customer specifications.
Provide troubleshooting and failure analysis of plating finishes.Identify and evaluate new plating systems for product improvement and cost reduction.Provide engineering support to customer inquiries as required.Review and revise existing processes and documentation to affirm validity.Coordinate corrective action for out of control events in production.
Answer corrective actions and establish procedures to correct manufacturing process defects.Provide immediate process/troubleshooting assistance to support team efforts in meeting delivery and quality goals.Support the plating team in meeting safety and environmental goals.Work with support departments and outside vendors to design and adapt equipment to specific plating applications and requirements.Be responsible for process documentation to ensure successful qualification of new and existing processes.Document to support control of precious metal consumption.Assist Plant Engineering in areas of plating equipment design, calculations of ventilation requirements, and waste treatment requirements.Develop process flow diagrams for new/existing products.If the following describes you, we would love to talk with you about the role! Bachelors of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or related science.3-10 years of electro-plating or plating experience in an R&D or process-related position.Experience in a multi-faceted metal finishing operation that produces finished parts, ideally for Aerospace and Military connectors as well as industrial applications.Training in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Statistical Process Control.Desired but not required: Six Sigma Green or Black Belt, American Electroplating and Surface Finishing certification.Certified Electroplating-Finisher (CEF) certificate or AESF Foundation Master Surface Finisher (MSF).Mastery of metal finishing processes and chemistry.Working knowledge of quality systems, process control, statistical analysis, and manufacturing safety practices.Strong project management, structured problem solving, ethical decision-making, data analysis, and application of SPC, ISO, and IPC standards.Understanding of military and NADCAP specifications and qualifications.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail, producing results and meeting strict deadlines.Must be capable of working in a chemical environment that contains hazardous materials and/or solutions.
Exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, and temperature variations.
Wear appropriate PPE including eye and hearing protection and safety shoes.Occasional travel required.Must be eligible to work on defense and satellite programs subject to ITAR Regulations.
